Cancer was a big part of my life after my angel of a nana died from it when I was 7. Then on the 19th anniversary of her death, i'm warned I may have cancer. This was a few weeks ago, since then i've been in hospital a few times for biopsies and a CT scan. The biopsies have shown I have Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I see a haematologist tomorrow. So cancer has become all I can think about every day. I've read that being in my 20's and female gave me a 4 in 100,000 chance of getting this disease, I don't know if that means i'm extremely unlucky or just special....
Just to update (2nd November 2012) I've now been told it's Burkitts Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, High Grade, B Cell and in the early stages since it's localised to my neck. I haven't had results from bone marrow biopsy yet but doctors believe it'll come back clear. I find out in a weeks time exactly which treatment i'll be moving onto from R Chop. My current side effects from R Chop (8 days later) are: Nausea, sore scalp, numb/tingly finger tips, mouth ulcers and some days fatigue.
