I am in my fifties and have two grown up sons. Work in a very busy warehouse. Grow my own fruit, veggies, chilis, herbs, peppers etc. Love walking with my dog and being outdoors as and when I can.
After a very painful year so far, and test after test over the months I was finally diagnosed on Wednesday 3rd July with bowel cancer, and five days later on the 8th July I had surgery (Laparoscopic Sigmoid Colectomy) which involved removing the sigmoid part of the bowel as it had a cancerous tumour in it, the tumour had caused a huge blockage in the bowel, and recoonecting the large bowel to the rectum, also out of the twenty lymph nodes removed four were cancerous. They want me to recover and heal before I start chemotherapy as a preventative measure. The surgeon reckons he removed all the cancer, but as a preventative, he is suggesting chemo. I don't know how much chemo, for how long etc etc Waiting on appointment to see the Oncologist to sort that side of things out.
