Just diagnosed with mouth cancer. Op at beginning of March. Still not believing it.
...and now in early August, i'm back at work full time.
In March I had a partial left maxillectomy, selective left neck dissection and reconstruction of palate with forearm flap.
Luckily the cancer hadn't spread so I avoided having to have radiotherapy and or chemo.
I have side effects from the surgery, such as loss of taste, lymphoedema in my neck, slightly reduced use of left shoulder, bits of pain in neck and arm, difficulty swallowing unless the food is very soft... however, given the other options, I can only be glad that that's all.
I'm now back at work full time and building up stamina again for the long day.
If anyone wants to know about the operation, just ask! I had a very positive experience and would be happy to talk to anyone facing it.
