Hello,
I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in November 2016. I then had an intensive chemoradiation course lasting five-and-a- half weeks from December 2016 to January 2017. This was followed by an Anterior Resection in May 2017. At the same time an ileostomy was created. Soon after this I had twenty-four weeks of further chemotherapy. I then had my stoma closed August 30th 2018. This was when my current troubles started. I'm suffering terribly from Anterior Resection Syndrome. Since then I've tried to have my ileostomy restored. The medical profession is extremely reluctant to allow it. But, recently I've been told that they will do it. One reason is that a colonoscopy with an ileostomy is very difficult to perform accurately. I would like to know if you know anyone who has had this particular procedure. I believe it must be performed every day ( there must be thousands of ileostomates in this country who require an accurate colonoscopy?). Does anyone have any information on tyhis subject, please?
