About Bennie68

Hi, I'm a 51 year old woman. Today, I got a letter with the results of my recent smear. I have high grade (moderate) dyskaryosis. This has put me into a complete tailspin, and I'm totally freaked out. I think this is to due with the fact I had a double mastectomy due to dcis when I was 34. It reminds me of how I felt then. Absolutely petrified! I've been reading a lot, and trying to calm down about it and not look too far ahead. I have always had regular smears and apart from one abnormal one a few years back, all has been ok...until now. At this age, I was hoping the risk reduced since I would be moving from 3 yearly smears, to 5 yearly. I'm panicked as I'm now worried I will be the person who has cancer already. I have a colposcopy booked for next Thursday. Is it likely they will treat me there and then? Not knowing is always the hardest part. Anyone else going through this or been here recently? Would appreciate some advice!! Thanks so much. Xx
