I was diagnosed with tonsil Cancer stage 3 in January 2017
It had also spread to my lymph nodes in my neck.
I had an operation and My tonsil was removed shortly after my diagnosis.
I then had eight teeth removed as these would have to come out due to bone and gum damage caused by the treatment i was going to have.
I had radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions. (30 sessions every day for 6 weeks.) in Feb, Mar and April.
I had a feeding tube fitted in my stomach as it is difficult for me to eat and drink as my throat is sore and swollen and I have no salivary glands due to the therapy.
I had a review with the specialist and scans in July and showed no sign of the cancer!
I had another review and scan in October and again showed all clear !
All was going well until I found a lump on my neck on December 5th.
The cancer had returned to the shock of all of us including my oncologist and it had also spread to my left lung.
I was offered chemo and had 6 sessions in January 2018 of two chemo drugs, cisplatin and 5FU together. Then had a full scan and weeks later to be told that the chemo didn’t work and it had in fact spread to both lungs and was now terminal. Im 42 years old and have never smoked and before this I’ve never been ill.
The last and final ‘option’ was immunotherapy which I have just started.
Currently no side effects or reactions to date. Hoping it prolongs my life a little longer and praying for a miracle.
