About Alyaz

My dad was diagnosed with throat cancer 12 months ago. It was a T3 with a spread to the lymph nodes. He has undergone chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a full neck dissection - he had a feeding PEG fitted last July and has eaten nothing at all since November. He had started to eat a little but an anomaly on a scan led to a huge biopsy of newly created tissue which hasn't healed. His pain level is increasing. He is losing weight & is becoming more frail. He went to an outpatient appointment with a view to working on pain management on Thursday but was so poorly that he was admitted. He has had further tests & we are awaiting results. His pain meds have been changed but he is still in a lot of discomfort. It just seems so cruel - surely after all he has been through he could have some quality time once again.
