About Alan985

66 year old. Went to GP, in fact 2 GP’s, complaining of being up and down to the toilet several times in the night and probably more important to me anejaculation. I went several times but unfortunately I was told by both doctors that anejaculation was just one of these things that came with age. Research didn’t really back this up so after hearing that a few times from different people I said to the last one I saw perhaps a PSA would be in order.
I have access to my medical records on line and saw my PSA was 11.48. I rang the surgery the next morning, I think it was a case of who got there first as mthe receptionist had been tasked to contact me.

The GP was very kind, explaining he was arranging a two week appointment and that this was to either rule in or rule out prosthetic cancer.

I was seen in under two weeks and the consultant I saw arranged an MRI scan and did the only PR. He advised he could  feel something on the right side of my prostate.

Two day later and then the worst part of the whole thing so far, prostate biopsies x19.

The pain was excruciating, worse by far than anything I had ever experienced before. That apparently was the local anaesthetic.

I saw a second  consultant 4 /5 later as the original chap was in theatre. This wait was horrific, he confirmed prosthetic cancer  T2 with a Gleason score of 7. He advised the two options available and that he would arrange  bone scan before I saw anyone.

i explained I had extreme claustrophobia and that I needed large amounts of oral sedation before my MRI scan. He then told me not to worry it was no where near as claustrophobic as an MRI, he is either out of touch or lied! It was much much worse and I was only able to have part of the scan. This showed no mets with the obvious rider that not all the scan had been completed.

i have my appointment with a Consultnt urology surgeon tomorrow. The 4 day wait has been horrific but it’s here now. Onwards and upwards
