I am a 21 year old third year psycholgy student. Currently struggling massively to come to terms with my Mums illness.
She was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2015, after beginning treatment however she was in great health throughout the majority of 2016.
In October however she became poorly with what seemed like a simple cold, however she never seemed to shake it. She began being sick and feeling dizzy. Gradually over the months she became weaker and unable to keep any food down. After being taken into hospital on the 23rd of December we faced Christmas without my beautiful mother around. Since we have been informed her cancer has spread to the meninges of the brain. Something that happens with only 5% of cancer patients. Now we face a prognosis of a few months, perhaps less.
My mum has emotionally shut down whereas my family continue to try and come to terms with this news.
I am using this forum to help offer my opinion or simply comfort those who are in similar situations.
Here's to beating cancers *** one day.
But for now, let's just take care of our loved ones and appreciate all the time we have together.
