Trials

Hey there I am just clutching at straws but my husband has stage 4 lung n brain cancer not great outcome,he can't have a shunt as the fluid will spread to his stomach,he can't have radiotherapy as his brain is already swelling so can't do that and biopsy wouldn't make any difference to the outcome so just wondering if any trials we can try or if anyone else has done this before like I say clutching at straws I know xx thank you

  • Hello Flips71

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. It's obviously an incredibly difficult time for you both and understandable that you want to explore every option.

We do have some information about clinical trials on our website but please do speak to your husband's specialist as they will be best placed to talk to you about any possible trials they are aware of.

You might also want to consider talking things through with one of our team of nurses. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you and your husband have lots of support around you from family, friends and health professionals. Do lean on them during this difficult time. Keep in touch with the Cancer Chat community if it helps to have somewhere safe to put down in writing your thoughts and feelings. We're here to listen and support you.

Sending you both my best wishes,

  • Hi jenn

Thanks for the reply To be honest his consultants have said nothing they can do and without treatment 3 months already been 6 weeks so not really sure he will get anything which is why asking about trials x

  • Hello Flips71

It's obviously a very difficult time right now. I don't know if you think that a second opinion might be helpful for you. If that's something you think might want to explore you can read more here

Give our nurses a call tomorrow Flips71. Sometimes it can help to talk with a health professional who isn't directly involved with a loved one's care.

Sending you both my very best wishes,
