Surgery will be postponed if you get Covid. Be careful

Just to let you know, as I was totally unaware, if you catch COVID, your surgery will be delayed. Current advice is surgery should be delayed for 7 weeks from positive PCR test. This is because it stays in your lungs and has increased mortality rates. My auxiliary clearance has now been delayed for another 4/5 weeks. If I'd of been aware of this, I might not  of met up with friends who we ultimately caught it from, although they had no symptoms at the time. So be careful if you are waiting for surgery.

  • Hello Ned22

I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery has been postponed following your recent Covid diagnosis. I hope that you weren't too unwell and that you've now recovered.

It's unfortunate that your friends were asymptomatic and that you, unfortunately, ended up becoming unwell after meeting them. These are indeed difficult times and it can be hard to know what to do for the best sometimes.

I wanted to just include this link about cancer and covid in my reply to you, for anyone who may read your post in the hope that it may help them.

In the meantime, I hope you continue to feel better over the next few weeks and that your axillary clearance surgery goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,

  • So sorry to hear that, had no idea it would be 7 weeks postponed, thought would just be duration of the covid.
