Concerned about a shiny red raised lump

I noticed this small lump on my ankle over a year ago. I thought it was a gnat bite but it's now grown ro a round shiny red raised lump about 1cm in diameter. I have waited 2 weeks for a phone call from my doctor to be told she don't know what it is and will speak to another doctor and ring me back end of next week . She also said she doesn't think its anything sinister.

This is torcher waiting another 2 weeks just to know whether she will actually see me or go by the photos and what the second opinion says.

Anyone else had this where it ends up being nothing?

  • Hello Sammy114,

It's reassuring that she said she doesn't think it is anything sinister and I hope that you hear back from this other doctor very soon. Waiting for answers can be really hard and hopefully it won't be long now before you get some clarity on this.

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have had this before and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. In the meantime, all you can do is keep busy and distracted if you can keeping well away from Google as searching online will often only make you worry even more.

Fingers crossed you speak to the doctor soon and find out more about what this small lump on your ankle might be. I hope that it all turns out to be fine for you!

    Best wishes,

  • I had an insect bite that gradually turned into exactly how you describe and was told it was a benign overgrowth of skin cells due to "trauma". Mine is ever so slightly tender too and is a raised round shiny red lump. Hope this puts your mind to rest x

  • Hey!

I have something similar on my knee, but never thought of it as something very bad. It's not painful unless I accidentally apply pressure to it. Is yours the same?

Your topic got me thinking maybe it's worth to ask a GP about it!!

  • Mine is tender if I press it x
