Breast cysts : thinking of the worst case scenario

Only 25 yrs old, have had a few breast cysts over the past year that have become quite prominent as in they keep recurring,  they are on the lower inner side of the breast and usually on the bra line, they become more noticeable during menstruation time, there are definitely cysts i do believe, but i notice a lump under the cyst, recently this became inflamed, the skin around it was red and it leaked only a little and then blood? Periods are now over since 2 days and although the inflammation has went down i still feel the lump, it moves, its quite firm but moves and leaks like droplets of blood.. I called the doctor today about it and they suggested come in next Thursday so i have over a week to wait... I've been fearing the worst.. Google isn't any help I've been searching everything and it has stressed me out, never had breasts checked, my sister assured me that it's just cysts but i don't know I'm fearing the worst. I never thought to get it checked from gp as they usually just drained by themselves and that was it but they left marks too

  • Hello M.ali90x,

A very warm welcome to our forum! You've done the right thing in making an appointment with the doctor who will be in the best position to tell you what these recurrent breast cysts might be. It's good that they will be examining you properly. Do make sure you explain everything to the doctor, that you feel this lump under the cyst and that you have noticed those little droplets of blood leaking. I can imagine you are feeling rather anxious as you are waiting to be seen. It won't be long now before you get more clarity on this.

It's normal to fear the worst but there are so many things it could be that are not cancer and which would be more likely explanations so try not to anticipate what it might be. As you said, Google is definitely not your best friend there so keep well away from it or it will only make you even more anxious. It's really important that you are having these checked by your GP and I keep everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

I hope that you will also hear from some of our other members who have had similar issues before and that they will come and share their story with you.

    Best wishes,
