Worrying about lump on cervix and a long wait

A few weeks ago I noticed a fairly large lump on the entrance to my cervix (whilst just poking around up there, as you do  laugh:laugh:). I've had some little lumps there before which turned on to be cysts. This time I have waited to see if it would go away but it hasn't, so today I contacted my GP to ask for an appointment. The GP said it needs to be on a day when both she and the practice nurse are in...which will be Christmas Eve. This seems a long time to wait when I'm starting to get really anxious, especially as I'll be worrying about it over Christmas now. Does this seem ok or should I all again and ask if there is any way that they can see me sooner?

I'm 33, always had clear smear tests (last one was 2019 I think), have no family history of cancer and no symptoms other than the lump so perhaps they think it can wait?

  • Hi Little_Mim and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry you may have to wait until Christmas Eve before this can be checked. There's no harm in asking if you can take any cancellations that pop up or, if you have more than one GP and they are female you could see if that can help you be seen more quickly as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their thoughts and advice with you soon but in the meantime we'll have our fingers crossed this is no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,
