Advice - Burning in breast near armpit and bumpy lump

Hello everyone,

I am 34 years old and for a week now, i have what feels like a burning under the skin near the front of my armpit above my left breast. I only feel it sometimes and if i move a certain way. I called the doctor and she examined me on Thursday. She made no reference to the pain but did say she could feel something at the side of my left breast but said it feels more bumpy than like a lump. I have been referred to the breast clinic and am awaiting an appointment

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 33 and passed away when she was 40

Recently i have been very run down after moving home, losing my dad and just one thing after an other. I have also had 2 colds within a month and have been feeling run down.

I came off the contraceptive pill in July and had a really heavy period on 10th November so im assuming i will be due another in the next week or so. I have ruled out being pregnant.

Just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this burning/symptoms? And what it was?

Everyone keeps telling me not to worry, but its difficult not too. Especially given my mums history with breast cancer

Thank you

  • Hello Applebottomjeans and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the sensations you've been having in and around your breast but it's good you got this checked by your GP and hopefully it won't be long until your referral comes through.

I'm sure some of our members will by in touch with you soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to share this handy guide on what to expect at your breast clinic appointment.

I hope this makes things a little less scary and all goes well at your referral when the time comes.

    Kind regards,
