Mum recalled after mammogram.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping I'll feel some form of reassurance from this forum like I've seen many others have. My 53 year old mum went for a routine mammogram a few weeks ago and had a letter calling her back for further testing. She had the appointment and had another mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. There is a slight change in her right breast. It was found on the mammogram but couldn't be seen on ultrasound as it is so small. Is this surely a good sign??? She went on to have a core biopsy and her results are this Thursday. I'm OUT of my kind with worry, she's got no symptoms of any sort and she said on the mammogram it was literally a dot that they wanted to look at it was so small, is this a good sign?please im so so worried I haven't been able to eat or sleep properly.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hello RebeccaLoui94

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has been having some investigations following her recent breast screening. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about her results on Thursday but it sounds as if the breast team has been really cautious with things so hopefully whatever the results are they will be able to give you some reassurance.

You might find it helpful to have a look at this article on the Breast Cancer Now website and I'd also suggest giving our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some advice and support ahead of your Mum's appointment that will help. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Rebecca and let us know how your Mum gets on later this week.

    Best wishes,
