Abnormal FIT test after mesentric panniculitis

Hi everyone. I'm a 40 year old mum of 2.
I've been experiencing right lower abdominal pain intermittently for about 8years now. I have periods of time when I'm fine then I bloat and get the pain. This normally always goes by the following day. I have always suffered from straining and constipation so over the years the dr has always says this was IBS.
Recently I was admitted into hospital with a kidney infection. During this time I had a contrast ct and they picked up that the my mesentry was also inflamed and wanted this to be followed up by gastro.
Gastro consult said don't worry and inflammation was probably to do with the kidney infection . However I then had a FIT test and calprotrectin test. Calprotectin was normal but FIT was 106 ( I was on the tail end of my period at this time but didn't know not to take the test so I'm not sure if that made a difference)

I'm now on 2ww and have an appointment with the colonoscopy clinic on Wednesday.
Absolutely terrified. Has anyone else out there had similar symptoms?

  • Hi Sar81,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can imagine this must be unsettling - it's good to hear you have the referral and that there's not long to wait now, although I can appreciate the uncertainty is always difficult. I hope that things go well on Wednesday and that it's not too long to wait following that to get the answers you need.

Meanwhile if there are others here with similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
