Worrying myself sick

I had my regular breast scan 10 days ago and today (Thursday)received a letter asking me to go for further tests on Monday morning at the specialist breast screening centre. Had some routine bloods taken last month and my basophil count was low whatever that means. I am 53, had a full abdominal hysterectomy about 10 years ago and tonight I cannot stop all sorts of scenarios going through my head I’m so worried as we have a lot of different cancers in the family

    A very warm welcome to our forum.

    I have been recalled after a routine mammogram previously and know just what a worry this is. It is hard to stop your imagination from taking you to all sorts of dark places. I am not a doctor, but I understand that it takes a number of close relatives to have had breast cancer to  have a genetic tie. 

    I too have lost a number of close family members to cancer, but I was clear when I was recalled.  I am glad to hear that you don't have long to wait for your new appointment. I do hope that you are lucky too.
