Test result worry

Hi I've been going back and forth about posting on here about my situation and have decided it would benefit me mentally to share and get possible advice. I'm 20 years old and I am currently awaiting test results that will tell me if I have ovarian cancer or not. This whole process has been a real shock to me, I was admitted to hospital a few months ago with what presented as appendicitis I was quickly dismissed and told it was just my 'cycle'. After another month of agony and fearing to ask another doctor and get the same response I contacted my GP and she sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound I received those results today that showed I have a very large blood filled cyst on my right ovary as well as endometriosis and I thought that was the end of the diagnosis until my doctor told me the ultrasound tech had stated it looked 'cancerous' and I'm really not sure what that even means anyways I was sent for an emergency CA-125 blood test which test for ovarian cancer and I am now faced with the fact that I could possibly have cancer at 20 years old and it's just a waiting game to find out

  • Hello Ell253 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long to find out what exactly is going on. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The waiting game can feel like it's taking a lifetime though and it's normal in a situation like this for anxiety levels to be sky high. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
