What are your experiences of getting results during covid?

Hello, I had a skin excision biopsy 4 weeks ago, my 10th surgery to date across few years, and I usually receive the copy of the write up, most of the time stating dysplatic or spitz, in the post before I see the consultant for a follow up, however this time I have not recieved it and I'm now terribly worried that it's bad news and that's why they haven't sent the letter yet. The consultant 4 week follow up is a telephone appointment which I'm taking some comfort in as surely if it was bad news it would be face to face? I'm just wondering what other people's experiences are with receiving results during covid? Could they be delayed? Thanks in advance

  • Hello Siosio

I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting on biopsy results. We know that many people have experienced delays with appointments, tests, and results since the beginning of the Covid pandemic. We also know that many more people are now getting telephone appointments whereas before Covid this was most unusual.

It's natural to feel anxious whilst waiting for results. Try to remain positive and take things a day at a time. It sounds from your post as if you already have an appointment date/time arranged and I hope that this isn't too far ahead. Hopefully, the Consultant will be able to give you some good news and reassurance. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply. I had my telephone results consultation and I am pleased to say that the moles removed were just dysplastic, like others I have had before, and I'm extremely relieved that I won't be needing any more surgery on those areas, best wishes.
