Calcifications - help

Hi,

I'm worried :-(

Last week I went Breast clinic for what i thought would be straightforward appointment, as 2 years ago I had pain and discomfort in my right breast which was around the same time i went for my 1st rountine Mammorgram at the age of 50. At that time they found nothing wrong with right breast but found small cysts in left which was drained. Therefore this time i was expecting the same thing as again i have had pain and tenderness for weeks in right breast, unfortunately this was'nt the case now im left confused and very worried......

I will keep it short, basically they found a mass in right breast and took a biopsy and in the left two areas of calcifications, i remember them saying a 'cluster' and another patch.....

I had 4 mammograms, ultrasound and biopsy. I think they said the mammograms were to have a closer look at the calcifications, it was sooooo painful brought tears to my eyes.

They've said they will contact previous hospital for findings 2 years ago and i will get biopsy results within 10 days and an appointment to return...i was given a leaflet also on calcifications and told not to worry .....

I'm left of course extremley worried as i know clusters are not a good sign ........

I dont think i have any cancer symptoms, breast appear normal, just pain. I've been extremely fatigued and headaches only

Can anyone give advice ? Should i ask questions now or wait for 2 weeks ?

  • Welcome to the forum Salsajan although I'm sorry for the worry this is causing.

The wait for results is always tough but if you can, try to sit tight as it will be easier to get answers to any questions playing on your mind once they've come back.

Hopefully some of our members will stop by soon to offer their thoughts and advice but in the meantime I hope the tips and advice given in this article on how to cope with waiting for news will help keep your nerves at bay. You're also welcome to have a chat with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m

Fingers crossed for good results Salsajan.

  • Thank you.

I got letter yesterday which was very concerniing, it stated general surgery.....after numerous phone calls i spoke to admin, who said they didn't think it was general surgery !!!??? that my results were back and it was a follow up appointment to discuss results......i ask for a nurse or Doc to call me back they said no one was available and apologised for how the letters are written

Crazy, how can you not worry :-(
