Abnormal uterine bleeding for a year

Hi,

im writing here because my mind is all over the place. Im 30 years old, no kids, polysistic ovaries but no hormone imbalances. Previous CIN3 but clear now.  I had no periods for 7 years and then last November I just started bleeding and it hasn't stopped !

Saw GP in January, bloods taken and to everyone's surpise my red and white cells were up. Doctor was expecting them to be low due to continuous bleeding. Doctor referred me to gynaecology but messed up the referal and I got missed for months. In the mean time the high blood counts were discussed and I was referred to heamotology but they rejected the referal. Finally saw a gynaecologist in October and he prescribed norethisterone. Sadly a week later I had a liver scan and got told I have issues there so the liver clinic told me not to take the norethisterone until they have run some more tests on my liver just incase.

So I'm still bleeding with clots sometimes. Gynaecology (in the October appointment) had booked for an ultrasound and told me I probably won't need a hysteroscopy unless the lining was thick. Had the scan last week and the ultrasound lady said it was thick 10mm which she didn't understand as I had a lot of cysts and I'd been bleeding for so long. She said with that many cysts I shouldn't be bleeding, and with such constant bleeding my lining shouldn't be that thick. 5 weeks until my next gynaecology appointment; until then I have no medication to take and I'm just so confused. I don't understand why I have high blood counts, why I have a thick lining or what could cause daily bleeding for almost 13 months now non-stop.

There's a lot more info but I tried to just keep it as brief as possible. Has anyone had any experiences similar ? I'm so worried and frustrated I can't sleep anymore and I can't stand the daily bleeding.

  • Hello BecJ30

I'm so sorry to hear about the ongoing health problems that you've been dealing with for the past year. It sounds like it's been a difficult time and I can understand why you may be feeling anxious.

I think that most of our members here will understand how difficult it can be not knowing what is responsible for your symptoms. People often say that the unknown is scary but once you have answers things are much more manageable. Hopefully, the liver investigations you have scheduled will give some information that will allow all the Dr's involved in your care to begin to help things improve for you.

In the meantime, if you wanted to chat with our team of nurses you're welcome to call them. I'm sure they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support that they can. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
