HPV HIGH GRADE (moderate) DYSKARYOSIS

I'm so full of fear right now I had a smear test 6 weeks ago, I never received my results but on Thursday evening I receive an email to say an appointment had been made for the colposcopy clinic for Tuesday. I just could help thinking the worst. I managed to get through to the colposcopy department and they had a nurse call me back to explain my results, she said I had tested positive for hpv an high grade moderate dyskaryosis. She explained I will go to my appointment have a chat, they will have a look and decide the best course of treatment. Right now in my head it's already gone too far and turned cancerous. I had a normal smear test 3.5 years ago. Can anyone share there experiences good or bad so I know what to expect.

  • That's so nice they were kind and reassuring, fingers crossed I experience the same.
Yes please let us know when you get the results! And I will keep you updated too. Thank you xx

  • Hi Nads I was just wondering how you got on? Hope you're ok xx

  • Hi Daisy, thanks for asking, mine was very similar to Emily. The nurses were all lovely and put me at ease from the start. They agreed with the smear result and said they can see a small inflamed area that will need treating so took a biopsy to ensure the treatment chosen is the right one, results from that within 4 weeks.  None of it hurt and I too didn't feel the biopsy being taken. Will let you know how I get on once the results are back x

  • Hi, I've now had my results and I'm booked in for LLETZ treatment on the 10th January. Am grateful that it was identified and can be treated so quickly. Hope you are both okay x

  • Happy new year!

Thanks for replying, what did your results say? I had a LLETZ when I went for the colposcopy on the 8th, she basically said that they would do treatment there and then if they could and if I wanted or they could take a biopsy and I could wait for the results. I said just do it there and then which they did. I honestly didn't feel a thing!
I'm just waiting for results now, they said 4 weeks so I'm hoping it's not much longer as now Christmas and new year have gone I'm finding myself worrying again.

Hope you had a nice Christmas xx

  • Don't worry.

A routine smear picked up changes and I was given a CIN III diagnosis that required a loop diathermy. That was 17 years ago. All smear tests have been clear since then.

  • I had my biopsy 5weeks ago on Tuesday and still waiting for my results, hopefully won't have to wait much longer. I hope your results come back ok, I wish I had just done the LLETZ there and then but when I went it wasn't as bad as they expected so just went for the biopsy.

  • My biopsy result was CIN2, I wasn't offered Lletz at the time as the staff member who does it wasn't in but I too would have just got it over with! I had my LLETZ today, it was absolutely fine, in and out in 20 minutes. Not had much cramping or bleeding so fingers crossed it stays that way. Like you, hopefully get a letter in 4 weeks to say all gone, have you had yours yet?

  • Hiya, I'm so pleased LLETZ wasn't too bad for you, I found the first week I was a bit crampy and didn't bleed until around day 3/4,  then I had a period and then it was just light pink watery discharge (sorry if TMI) for around 3 weeks. Wasn't a bad recovery at all.
I've not had my results yet, it will be 5 weeks on Wednesday so if I haven't heard by then I might give them a call. My anxiety is through the roof waiting!

Hope you have an easy recovery from the LLETZ too xx

  • No, not TMI, it's good to hear.  Try not to be too anxious, I'm sure Christmas and New Year with the long holidays has just got in the way of you receiving anything. Also might just be the post, ours is really suffering where I live in Essex so maybe worth making a call x
