Pertrified!!!

Hi everybody

I am so terrified. Back in Sept I took a sore shoulder. Felt like bone pain on top of shoulder) then getting twinges of pain in gland areas ( they were not there all the time). A couple of weeks later I found a sausage shape lump just under collar bone (you could only see/feel it when you raised your arm) it was was not sore. I checked my beasts and noticed a small raised area in my right armpit. Not noticed it before.  I made an app at docs who checked me over. She could not find anything suspicious but since I had noticed a change then referred me to breast clinic. I got an appointment through for 23rd Nov but I had to change that as I tested covid positive on 22nd so self isolating until 2nd Dec. My app is now 17th Dec.
Now my shoulder is still sore and the lump under collar bone is still there but the breast is sore to touch. I also feel when I get to sleep and wake up (not too much sleep as I am worried sick) my right hip joint feels sore. And today my left area under the collarbone feels tender(no lump at moment)  although a sore area round the back of my left underarm. I have also lost 7 pounds since 7 sept. (Not trying to lose weight)

I don't know where to turn. I am afraid I am going to die and I have an 11 year old daughter who I want to see grow up.

Any words would help I feel so alone and very very scared.

Thanks

  • Hey Shorty19,

I'm sorry you are feeling worried and frustrated :(

I totally get your worries, I'm currently waiting for a referral for uterine cancer screening.

It is scary and I know you feel rough, it's an awful feeling. But it could be many things, I would recommend speaking to family and friends about your worries it's really helped me.

You shouldn't have to keep this all bottled up on your own.

The important thing is you are on the road to finding answers and what it is, instead of ignoring your symptoms. If it is anything sinister you've given yourself the best chance of treating it.

I'm sorry I can't offer much advice, but know you are not alone!

    Em xx

  • Hi Em

Thanks for your kind words. It really is a worrying time. I know it can be many things but always think the worst which does not help. I am really hoping that it could be down to being menopausal.

I do hope everything goes good for you and everything turns  out ok. Xx

  • My wife was diagnosed with BC. Before her scans she had a sore/achy neck, knees, sciatica (back pain) and hips. After her diagnosis, she was utterly convinced things were bad. Other than the breast lump and two small lymph nodes, which we knew about, all her scans came back clear. The knees still hurt her on and off, the rest have cleared up.

We all get aches and pains. They almost always fly right under the radar or barely register, and we forget we ever had them.  When you've been diagnosed with something such as cancer or have convinced yourself you have something sinister, you are hyper sensitive to every ache and pain in your body.

This is a completely true story.  The day after my wife got her initial diagnosis, I had a sore arm pit. I freaked out, then realised i wasn't the person with the diagnosis.  That's how ridiculous things can get. That discomfort disappeared after 2 days and had it happened outside of this, I wouldn't have even been able to recall it. We laugh about my armpit pain. Probably phantom pain in my case as I was being overloaded with armpit and breast information for days.

When we're stressed, we tense up.  When tense, your muscles are not having a chance to rest. Thus aches and pains will follow like day follows night.

Moral of the story is, none of her aches were due to the lump in her breast.
