Multiple lumps in one breast

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have been reading the posts, I don't know where else to turn!

On Tuesday I had a GP appointment as I felt several lunps In one breast and one lump in the other. He felt the main lump and referred me to the breast clinic, he said I should hear something within 2 days and be seen within 2 weeks. I have called the clinic today as I hadn't heard anything and they said they were 'at capacity' and were trying to work out a plan :(

With regards to the lumps, I think they move a bit, they are round and I am not too sure whether they are soft or not. I feel like I can 'roll them' slightly between my fingers. There is one lump that is bigger than the rest. I suppose I am interested in hearing from anyone who had similiar symptoms, I am so scared!

I am 33 and have just had my second child, panicking is an understatement and now with the delays at the breast clinic I feel like I have a long wait ahead of me.

many thanks

Ari

    HI Ari,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. Your GP is doing the right thing by referring you to the breast clinic. It is impossible to say whether or not you have cancer until some tests are carried out. This is why you have been referred to the breast clinic. It is as much to rule cancer out as it is to find it.

Not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or hormonal/fibrous changes. It is a fact that only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis, so try not to worry too muuch. It is diffiult to predict a timescale for your appointment. Most people are still being seen within 2-3 weeks.

I do hope that all turns out well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for your response

I had my appointment today, the consultant examined my breasts and drew circles where he wanted the lady to scan. At the scan the lady said it was just glandular/fatty tissue.

I have got home and noticed that the circles he has drawn aren't actually above the lumps, they are quite a way off where I showed him the lumps were. I can still feel these lumps quite easily.

Does anyone know whether the ultrasound would have picked up the area surrounding the circles (where the lumps actually are)

I don't feel very reassured that they were checked out properly :(

    Hi Ari,

I am delighted to hear that you got good news today., although I am sorry to hear that you do not feel convinced that there is nothing untoward. Did the doctor circle aroound your lumps when you were lying down or sitting up? This could put your lumps in a different place when you stand up.

I am not a doctor, but I would expect that the ultrasound would have shown up your entire breast area. Discuss this with your GP and see what your he says.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
