Found lump under right rib

I've found a lump at the bottom of my right rib, not really hard not really soft, not painful. It's been there about 3 weeks and hasn't gone down. But I can't get a GP appointment. Should I try and go to the hospital instead? I'm getting really worried now...

    I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a lump. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what this may be. 

    Do try and get back in touch with your GP and explain that you have developed a new lump that hasn't disappeared after 3 weeks. Your GP will be best placed to arrange any appropriate tests or referrals and to offer you some support and reassurance.

    The only "just turn up unannounced" point of entry at a hospital is A&E.  They only deal with accidents and emergencies. Finding a lump that doesn't pose an immediate danger to your life falls under neither, and they'll simply turn you away after a 4 hours + wait. Will be long as a lot of folk seem to be turning up with stuff a gp deals with, not A&E staff.

    You need to keep trying your gp.
