HPV and Low-grade dyskaryosis

Hi Guys

I have just received a letter confirming I have HPV and Low-grade dyskaryosis. I am going for a colposcopy. I was just wondering how the procedure was etc...

I am also worried sick, I have lower abdominal pain and I think a UTI, not diagnosed. I had excruciating pain a few weeks ago after sex, but I just had put that down to having the coil fitted a couple of months back.

But you google these things and it's terrifying, I know you shouldn't google but it's natural!!!

Any words of wisdom or advice would be much appreciated

Charlotte

  • Honestly I did the same I googled everything.
honestly you be absolutely fine, just remember it not cancer. And if they find any pre cancerous cells they remove them there and then, you feel alot more better when it done, I'm always here for a chat and support.

I found drinking Canberry juice and taking vitamins helped with my immune system, might be good to try that aswell

try not think about it, if it was anything serious they would of seen you a lot sooner xxx

  • Yeah they will see you alot sooner. Can't you take antibiotics for them? I have a good immune system, got all my 3 jabs included the booster. Xx

  • No babe HPV your body immune system fights it off in time x

  • Oh I hope so hunni. I just want to say thanks so much for replying to me. Just worried sick xx

  • Hi,

I've had the same and had my colposcopy a couple of weeks ago. The colposcopy itself is nothing to worry about. I took 2 painkillers an hour before as they suggest and honestly never felt any pain at all, the thought of it was alot worse than the procedure itself. The nurses are lovely and will talk to you and give you lots of reassurance. I was told there and then I have nothing to worry about regarding cancer and they think its CIN1 but they did a biopsy to be certain again I never felt a thing when they did. I haven't had my letter back yet, but that in itself makes me think all ok as if they find anything really concerning they have you in for treatment quickly. The fact that your colposcopy isn't until March means they don't think its urgent. As for the hpv im really healthy avid gym goer, non smoker but I have hpv, but its really common and hopefully my immune system will do its job soon enough and get shut of it, apparently its really common and lots of people have it and dont even know. The most important thing is attending all your appointments no matter how anxious you get. The doctor told me we aren't worried about you, its the ones who don't attend smears etc that we worry about. Please try not to stress too much x

  • Hi Misshutch,

Oh I'm always overthinking & totally stressed about it Yes I will take some painkillers beforehands. Was you getting a slight prickly pain on right hip/thigh? I tend to get it now & then. I also work long shifts as a carer so that doesn't help. I will be taking vitamins tablets from now xx

  • Hi Connie

Yoi won’t ever be able to find out when or from whom you picked up HPV, but it’s an extremely common virus. There is no test for men. Having HPV will not stop you from having children.

You cant take antibiotics for HPV as there is no cure-just try to keep your immune system strong to help. But having a low level of cell change is really nothing  to worry about.

  • Hi Minski,

Awww it's the first time I've heard & diagnosis with it. Yes quite common virus & I've been going through researchs. My head is hurting me now lol Yes my cervix is on low grade dyskaryosis so I'm finding out what's grade they are xx

  • I would not do too much “research” on google, unless you are sticking with reputable sites-there is a lot of incorrect and scary information out there and it can be very confusing if you’re not sure what you’re looking for.

The colposcopy will be a more detailed examination of your cervix, and from that they will determine the level of cell changes and what treatment, if any, is required.

  • Yes very true hunni, okay is that the best option to look at? Also thank you hunni for reassuraning me. I'm having a lazy day. X
