Sharp abdominal pain

Hi. My name is Jodana. I'm 42 and have 2 sons. I'm from Kent and I'm being tested for possible colon cancer. I'm new to this forum and wanted to get some advice from people who have had a colonoscopy. I had one yesterday, Monday 22nd November for the first time. They removed a small polyp for biopsy and I was sick during the procedure. It was very unpleasant. My question is, did anyone feel a sharp pain on the RIGHT side of the abdomen once sedation wore off? Should I be concerned? I'll probably phone the endoscopy ward later but I don't wanna jump the gun just yet. I was thinking the pain is due to the removal of the polyp and I only felt the pain once I was home and sedation had worn off.

Any advice would be really appreciated

  • Hi Jodana,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry you haven't received any replies up to now - I'm not sure if you have now spoken to the ward and perhaps already have an answer to your question. It sounds like it could be an after effect of the procedure, particularly if something was removed, but the relevant medical staff will be best placed to advise.

If you haven't yet spoken to anyone and you'd like to speak to one of our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
