Veins on breast

Hello

So around 6 weeks ago I went to my doctor as one of my nipples was slit I got referred to the breast clinic but the practice nurse couldn't feel any lumps or swollen lymph nodes so wasn't concerned but said she would refer me as it was a change so needed to be looked at, I very quickly got my urgent referral and was seen 2 days later in this time i was doing the worst and googling and convinced myself I had breast cancer, when I went for the appointment they looked at my breasts and said it was just normal and very common, after this I still wasn't convinced as they only looked and felt around they didn't even give me any scans but the doctors have assured me that these people are trained in breasts and know what they are talking about.

Since then I haven't been 100% happy as in the back of my mind I still have breast cancer as surely a slit nipplw can't just be normal right? So since then everyday I'm feeling about and still I can't find any lumps but now I have noticed lots and lots of veins all over my breasts and I was just wondering if anyone else has had this and that outcome? I never see any posts of anyone commenting on very veiny breasts so guessing its not very common but I'm just hoping to find someone on here that has experienced similar so I can get some advice, I've also noticed on both breast what looks like stretch marks but not sure if its stretch marks or dimpling so I've phoned my gp and I'm getting seen tomorrow but they said I may need to be referred again to the vreast clinic im just so worried its something more and what they could have caught earlier the first time round if they had actually give me some tests rather than just looking and sending me on my way

Sorry for the long post

  • I have veins on my breasts, they can change depending on where in the cycle I am, that's true of lots of women. I also have stretch marks, and again normal. The doctors and nurses at the breast cancer clinic look at hundreds of breasts a week, if they were even slightly concerned something felt abnormal, they'd be doing more scans and tests. It's the easiest thing in the world for them, whilst you're there, to add in a few extra tests/checks if they're even slightly concerned, please try not to worry xx

  • Thankyou so much for the reply and I'm glad to see someone else has the same and that I'm not the only one, have you had yours looked at at all by the gp or breast clinic? Only these are obviously symptoms of breast cancer so good to rule them out.

I never had these veins when I went to my last breat clinic appointment 6 weeks ago so unsure why all of a sudden they have shown up just makes me think there is more to it, it doesn't matter where I am in my cycle they are always there and very noticeable there is so many of them one of them is so long it goes up one breast and along to the other.

Also the stretch marks I don't understand again how all of a sudden they can just appear when again they wasn't there at my last appointment and I'm not sure if it is stretch marks or if its dimpling/puckering of the skin

I have my gp appointment tomorrow so will see what they say i would rather they refer me so I get seen by the breast clinic who deal with that area everyday

  • Hi,

Can you let me know how you got on? I have the exact same thing and tonight I could see quite big veins which I haven't noticed before either, I haven't done anything about it yet and your the only person I could see with the same thing on here.

    Thanks.

  • Hello

So I went to the doctors as I've a few symptoms and one of them being lots of veins on my breast and I mean lots so was very scared but the doctor assured me it was nothing to worry about and it was all fine and said she didn't feel the need to refer me to the breast clinic  which was a relief to hear but I'm still not 100% convinced. Just think its strange how they have all of a sudden appeared and are very noticeable all over and not disappearing.

Please go to the doctors to be on the safe side your best to get checked. Its probably nothing but it best to get a doctors opinion

  • Hi Kirsty,

    Thanks for letting me know.

Yeah I will go get an appointment booked, is the slit on your nipple noticeable all the time? I have only caught mine a couple times in the mirror first time it was quits big and last night it wasn't as noticeable but it was there then it tends to go away? I do also recently have had really sensitive nipples and breast which I've never had before but put it down to the time of the month.
