Hello! I wonder if anyone can help me to understand something better.
I have had a pigmentation on my fingernail which was surgically removed for a biopsy last week. However the doctor found more pigmented cells on my finger when removing the nail plate and nail bed. He took another biopsy from there and I've been stitched and bandaged up.
I was expecting my nail to be removed and was super surprised that more had to be done, and that I had stitches.
At my consultation I was told that results would take three weeks. But last week the doctor told me I'll have an outpatient appointment in eight weeks.
Can anyone help shed any light (positive or negative) on what the pigmented cells below my nail could indicate. And why the results could now take so much longer.
Of course it's just a waiting game to get the real results but any insight into what things could potentially mean would help as I feel a bit in the dark.
Thank you x
