Referred to breast clinic and I'm a mess

Hey

I am 34 with 2 young girls. One is 5 and the other is 3 next week. I breastfed them both for 16 months and 20 months so I am used to feeling my boobs haha

Anyway for about 6 to 8 weeks I have had pain. Everything I googled was telling me I was fine. So I ignored it. But after 2 periods and the pain not going I thought I would just get checked out as I also got some odd itching.  I also noticed some odd marks on breast. On the examination she felt for about 2 seconds and said there is a clear lump there you need to be seen at the clinic.

I now can't stop checking for lumps and bumps.  I have also had swollen neck for a while after what an ear infection but I'm now convinced it's all tied.

I know I shouldn't worry and most cases to the clinic are fine. But I'm sick with worry and I have convinced myself I have breast cancer. My appointment is on the 29th. Day after my daughters 3rd birthday. That's 8 days of feeling this ***.

I have also seen a tik tok and she has breast cancer and she said about symptoms before.

Tingling in left arm. Which I have.

Swollen armpit and rash. Which I have.

Migranes coming back after 12 years. I used to get migranes and in the last month have had 3!!

I'm so scared

  • Those plans sound amazing. I was ok when I had my two week wait but I think knowing you have an appointment always helps? I find definitely don't google but these threads are very helpful x

  • Doesn't mean there's not another issue in play.  Such as a trapped nerve etc.

Issues in the same region tend to cause the same symptoms as far as pain and some symptoms go. Take the bowel. There's only so many symptoms that the bowel can cause and because of that, a lot of benign symptoms are similar to symptoms of cancer. symptoms overlap.  Ditto for chest pain. Not all chest pain is a heart attack or heart issue. Yet a helluva lot more benign conditions get diagnosed than sinister causes.

Same with your arm pit, chest and arm. I'm a guy and I had horrendous armpit pain and what felt like a tennis ball under my arm (there was no swelling, just felt like there was).  It turned out to be shingles. It's also not beyond the realm of possibility you have pulled a muscle. One of your main chest muscles runs through that area.

If you're gonna watch videos with someone describing breast cancer, the chances are and is the cause with you, some symptoms will over lap. I'm not saying medics don't get some things wrong, they do, but that is also rare. So there will have to come a point where you have to take them at face value and get on with enjoying your life rather than wasting it worrying about something a number of people have told you is ok.

Us humans are funny things. We worry about things like cancer because we want to live, but then waste that same life being consumed with fear. So either way, it's having a great impact on your life.

  • My doctor did say it could be a cyst too hope it's all it is for both of us. My appointment is 8th December, not to far away but the wait is the worst, when is yours?

    Hi Charp,

Just remember that not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts, hormonal or fibrous changes. Only 1 persn in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis..

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx
