Lump under armpit and in neck with abnormal blood results

Hi everyone.

I posted not long ago about the breast clinic. I saw someone at the breast clinic and they found a swollen lymph node in my armpit and a few smaller enlarged ones next to it too. Since then, I've got 1-2 lumps in my neck (can't tell if they are connected as they are close to one another) they aren't painful to touch but my neck feels stiff. I also had a blood test the other day and my results have come back that my full blood count was abnormal.

My question: can stress cause all of this to happen? I have been worried about lymphoma as I've had glandular fever before and have a lot of the risk factors for lymphoma and I'm just so worried now.

I am absolutely exhausted and just sleeping all of the time. I feel sick, have bowel issues, am really itchy especially under my other armpit so bad I have caused a rash that hurts. I sweat so bad and am on medication for this but seems like the meds aren't working.

  • Hi Milly.moo22,

I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you're experiencing. Anxiety can contribute to a number of symptoms, and it's possible that stress can also contribute to increased likelihood for catching bugs or infections. However it is only a doctor who can advise properly, based on any symptoms you have. Based on your blood results, I'm not sure if you have any next steps in place with your doctor. If not, and you remain concerned then you should speak to your doctor again to try to get some answers.

If you feel you're struggling with worries and anxiety, the NHS tool Every Mind Matters offers some practical tips to help.

    Wishing you all the best,
