Growth on side of tongue

Hello, 

I am writing here because i am very wrorried. I have some sort of lump on the right side of my tongue. It is not painful at all just very irritating and causes a bad taste in my mouth, worse at night. I also have red and white patches inside of my mouth. Of course google has told me its probably cancer. I shouldnt google things but im scared. Im 18 years old, dont smoke and only drink occasionally. Anyone know what else it could be apart from cancer?

    I'm sorry to hear of your worries regarding your symptoms. Unfortunately it's always very difficult to advise on symptoms - really it's only a doctor who can help with this. If things haven't improved and you remain worried then I'd suggest making an appointment to get it checked out. Your doctor will be best placed to advise and hopefully offer some reassurance.

    In the meantime, as you say, try to avoid Googling it as this is rarely helpful and often only tends to increase worries.
