Unusual bleeding

A year ago I had a smear that showed HPV so was told to come back after a year. 6 years prior to that I had precancerous cells that had to be treated. I have PCOS so only bleed a couple of times a year so when I bled in April then again September, all was usual. However, 10 days following the September bleed I had some unusual spotting which lasted 4 days. A week after that it started again lasting 3 days, a couple of weeks after that it happened again and lasted for a full week. I have just had my smear this year but I am starting to worry. The doctor has decided to send me for a scan and blood tests because of my unusual bleeding and history. I am worried that since being treated for pre-cancerous cells, that other abnormalities have been missed in the smears that followed and something worse has developed. Is this a possibility?

  • Hello Clr9876 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the irregular bleeding you've been having but I hope you can take some reassurance from how thorough your doctor is being to find out what the cause may be.

It's natural to worry when waiting for tests and results but many of our members have been in similar situations so you're not alone and hopefully you'll receive some support and advice from them soon.
