Contrast CT results - nervous.

Currently awaiting results of contrast CT scan, for possible lymphoma or mediastinal mass, following an abnormal chest x ray & bloods. They said upto 3 weeks for result, it's only day 4 of waiting & I'm so nervous. Anyone had similar or could share how long their results took please :)

  • Waiting for scan results is one of the worst things you'll endure.  It's the not knowing. Believe it or not, the knowing (good or bad) is a relief and releases a lot of that pent-up anxiety.

We had a really awful time between my wife being diagnosed and waiting for the results. Aye, It's the not knowing that's the real stress inducer. So I can fully understand what you're going through on that front. Nothing anyone says to you will take all that stress away. but we found keeping busy helped us.  Like we gutted the house in the 11 days it took from the scans to the oncologist appointment (not saying you will need an oncologist appointment btw).

Also, the best advice anyone can give you is, don't google.  Google will not tell you the results of those scans.  Nor will it ease your worries. In fact, it will just make you worse. You'll end up making yourself more ill with heart related issues than anything they may or not find on the scans. lol.

Feel free to vent in here and use me as a punch bag. Just know what you're writing isn't being ignored.

  • Thank you very much for your reply & kindness. I can believe that actually. Obviously I don't know how I'll feel if the news isn't good, but I always think you can cope more knowing all the information than with the unknown, so the uncertainty is tough! So sorry to hear your wife didn't get good news with her results & hope she is doing ok. Oh yes, dr google is never good! Thank you
