Hi all,
I had my appointment at the breast clinic today (I'm 27) after the most horrific 2 weeks of my life after finding 3 lumps in my right breast. I also felt 2 more in my left but the GP couldn't feel those, except for an existing fibroadenoma I was diagnosed with by ultrasound 3 years ago.
So following my trip today I've been told the 3 lumps in my right are all cysts (I developed shooting pains in my armpit this side last week so was relieved with this!), one in my left is also a cyst however they found another 18mm fibroadenoma in the left, on top of my breast not close to my existing one which is underneath. I'm very predisposed to lumps apparently!
Now when I was last diagnosed with a fibroadenoma they told me under 25s didn't get biopsied as standard so I queried why I wasn't for this new lump. She said that it's now over 30s who get a biopsy as standard. I know I should feel relieved that both the sonographer and consultant are confident it's just another fibroadenoma but I can't help having a niggling worry unless this is confirmed with biopsy as I've read some horror stories of misdiagnosis...
Is this typical for under 30s presenting with apparent fibroadenomas not to be biopsied? Or am I being overly paranoid?
