Swelling, discomfort and shoulder blade pain

I noticed a slight swelling about 2 weeks ago in my left breast with some warmth infrequent and some pain in armpit region. Since Wednesday I've had some shoulder/shoulder blade pain which has got significantly worse since Saturday. I just can't get comfortable to sit or sleep. I'm still waiting for my breast clinic appointment. Anyone had shoulder blade pain with breast pain and it all been OK. My anxiety is through the roof.

  • Hi, I know how you are feeling. I have been through similar recently. I have been told my lumps are all cysts. I have the same thing on the left side with sore breast, armpit and shoulder blade and occasionally pins and needles in my left arm when it gets really bad. I hope you get your appointment soon so you get answers. Xx

  • Thank you for your reply. That is quite reassuring. Have you found anything helps in relieving the shoulder blade pain? Are the cysts causing the pain or is it just coincidental? I've booked a physio appointment so hoping that may help as the deep heat is doing naff all.

  • Ugh I know, it's so uncomfortable and to be honest not much helps. I have found the only real solution to be a hot water bottle. I bought a long one so I can wrap it around my shoulder blade and armpit and it definitely eases it. I was told the cysts and the pain aren't connected which seems odd but they mentioned I appear to have an autoimmune disease causing the cysts and other issues. I don't know anything more on that at the moment. It's just all very strange and seems to have come on very sudden given I've been pretty healthy and well to date. After my ultrasound pressing on the cyst areas I was in agony and it flared up my shoulder pain which was really odd?!  I don't know if your breast is painful but I've switched from underwired bras to lounge style ones (I'm small chested) and that seems to have eased some of the discomfort too. At this point I try anything to see if it helps x

  • Thank you for your reply. I slept with a pillow between my shoulder blades last night and that made sleeping more comfortable. I too have also swapped to a non underwired bra and that seems to have helped ease the arm pit pain somewhat. I hope they find out what auto immune disease you are dealing with soon so that you can some comfort.
