Slightly Raised CA 125 Levels - No Womb present

Hi All,

I was being monitored for hypertension and severe acid reflux, doctor requested a CA125 test due to also suffering from bloating and loss of apetite due to constantly feeling full.

I received a call back from the doctor advising my test results came back just above the upper limit (only 36) but still classed it as high because of this, he advised they would need to do a scan omy ovaries to see what was going on, I advised him I had a total hysterectomy and oophorectomy in 2017, he said he needed to look closer into my notes and call me back. He rang back same day advising that due to previous history I need to have a TV scan and a CT of Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis.

I know this number is relatively low in comparison to everyone else, is it possible to have some form of cancer even though I had everything removed 4 years ago?

  • Hello Wilma1 and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately we can't really answer this question but it's good your doctor has been thorough and made sure all the necessary tests are being carried out so you can find out what's going on.

Hopefully it won't be too long until you can have these done and for the results to come through but I know the wait will be a tough one so I just thought I'd include an article I've found on how to cope with waiting for news.

I hope this helps in the meantime and that you hear back from our members soon.

    All the best,
