Subungual Melanoma

Hi,

About 5 months ago my big toenail started to change colour, went sort of white and red, and it kept bleeding from under the nail every other day. I originally thought it was fungal so I used the over the counter treatment for 2 and 1/2 months and it was just getting worse. So I submitted an econsult to my Dr with pics. They rung me and asked me to come in. They confirmed definitely not fungal and said the nail is really healthy. Said keep an eye and come back in 10 days if it hasn't improved.

The bleeding got worse and roughly 1/4 of my nail turned black and is lifting a bit so I went back to see them, he didn't say a word but told me he was referring me to the hospital and to wait for the letter, it wasn't til I got the letter that I realised it was the rapid assessment unit and saw them within 2 weeks.

I went and saw the dermatologist and was expecting him to say oh no its such and such don't worry. He looked at it under a microscope asked 2 questions and then said I'm booking for you a biopsy in 2 weeks and that was it! I was so shocked I didn't even ask any questions.

My biopsy is next Monday 22nd Nov, so half of me is terrified as they obviously have seen something that worries them but the other half of me really doesn't think its melanoma and feel like the biopsy is a waste of the specialists time. I'm so confused right now :(
