Hi all I am 53 no periods for 3 years, then had pinkish blood for 5 day's. Seen my local doctors and she had a look and said she could see a polyp. So received a letter for a ultrasound scan next week has anyone had this done?

I'm going to guess that you'll be receiving a transvaginal ultrasound (an internal) which is fairly comfortable based on my own experience. No worse than a smear.
I would warn you that I had a biopsy at the same time which was painful but I wasn't being examined for a polyp.
If you are worried take some pain relief beforehand just in case! X
Thank you, yes not too sure the letter just said Pelvic Ultrasound Scan so not sure. Will take paracetamol just in case x
Sounds like it could be an external scan then... Wish they would provide us with written details of what to expect. No excuses in this day and age to keep patients informed. Maybe someone with more experience might come along and give you advice...
How can we give informed consent when we don't know what procedures they are doing?!
Good luck x
Yes I agree so will expect an internal so I will be mentally prepared, its all the unknown about it all which is more worrying x
