Biopsy, waiting for results

So, I posted previously on here about having lumps in both breasts. One was diagnosed as a fibroadenoma which is fine. But this one is unknown, its deeper and movable and I had it biopsied today they took 3 samples. The radiographer said she doesn't know what it is but doesn't seem sinister. I was okay with this at first, then I thought about whether they can give you any idea or not? Anyway, they said it would be a week or so for the results. I'm so scared..

  • Hello Hanzt11

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about your breasts which have resulted in you having a biopsy. We know that waiting for tests and results can be a really difficult time and it's natural to feel worried about what you might be told. The unknown can be a scary prospect.

Sometimes the radiologist is able to tell from the scan what they are dealing with. This is their area of expertise but it's not always possible and that is why it's important to wait for the biopsy results. It may help to know that the majority of women seen in breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer so try to stay positive until you know what this may be.

It can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you'd find it beneficial to have a chat with one of our team of nurses? If you'd like to speak with them they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm and I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your results.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for your results. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
