Worried about lymphoma

Hi everyone

I am new to this so not really sure what I am doing, but hopefully this is ok to post.

From Dec last year to March this year I went through a number of investigations triggered by several swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I had ultrasounds, MRI head and neck and chest CT which were all clear. Blood tests showed high levels of EBV so it was concluded that I had had a reinfection of glandular fever and the glands were still swollen.

A year down the line and I still have swollen lymph nodes in my neck, and also armpit and groin. The ones in my groin I think are a little larger but then I could be imagning the worst.

They are generally painless although I get some occasional aches under my armpit. But my general health feels like it is deteriorating. I am always tired, get shivers but no fever, regular sore throats and always feel like I have a slight cold or I am coming down with something.

I've also been experiencing severe aches and pains around my shoulders and collarbone, which the gp thinks are muscular but I am concerned there might be something else. I have a raised area on my collarbone, which is hard but again the doctor thinks this is inflammation caused by muscular strain but I haven't injured myself.

I have now been referred to ENT again but I am really worried. Could something have not shown up in my previous scans? Could anything serious have developed between March and now?

If anyone has had any similar experiences I would love to hear from you.

  • Hello C.Lavender,

I am so sorry to hear you have been experiencing all these symptoms and that you are feeling so worried. It's good that they have referred you to ENT though so that they can look into this properly and I hope that you get some definite answers soon.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
