Cervical ectropion with HPV and mild abnormal cells

Hi

I've been recently diagnosed with HPV and low grade abnormal cells. 1 year back I got to know that I've cervical ectropion during an internal exam and GP, gynecologist told me this is normal and not to worry. Last year I had HPV positive but no abnormal cells, this year it's mentioned that I've very few low grade abnormal cells. I've my colposcopy booked in one month's time, also booked for hysteroscopy to investigate infertility. From last one year I have bleeding between period, after sex or heavy workout, run etc.

I'm very scared, no one to ask. What to expect from these appointments and what are the further procedures to treat this? Also should I go for hysteroscopy before colposcopy?

It would be really great if someone can share similar experience.

    Hello Poulami, 

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. Don't be alarmed by the fact that you have very few low grade abnormal cells and you are HPV positive - it's good that this has been picked up and that you can soon get the treatment you need. You can find out more about what to expect from treatment if you have abnormal cervical cells on this page. There is information also on our website on the colposcopy which I hope will answer questions you might have about the procedure. I am not sure whether you need to go for the hysteroscopy before the colposcopy but this something you could ask your medical team or your GP and I am sure they will be able to advise you further on this.
