Lymphoma / breast cancer?

So a painful lump appeared in my armpit when I was 7 weeks pregnant (I recently miscarried at 12 weeks) and the midwife initially thought it was a blocked milk duct but to see GP just incase. GP referred me to breast clinic as it was extremely swollen where they found an additional lump on my breast. They sent me for ultrasounds / mammograms / core needle biopsy which also picked up a second lump on my breast, and the bulky node in my armpit measured at 6cm which has lead them to want to rule out 'lymphoma or Hodgkin's, or primary breast cancer which spread to axilla'.

I initially wasn't worried but knowing they are now saying these different diagnosis are a possibility I am beside myself. I have no additional symptoms and hoping it's just a hormonal inbalance due to pregnancy.

5 weeks ago I was pregnant with my second child and content with life. Fast forward to now and I feel as though my world has been turned upside down. I am 26 and have a 2 year old. I am so sick with worry whilst waiting for these results.

Does anybody have a similar experience??

  • Hello Marie95

Firstly I'm so very sorry to hear that you recently experienced a miscarriage. That in itself can turn your world upside down and now to be going through these additional stresses, it's understandable that you're feeling so worried.

We know that many people find waiting for test results to be particularly difficult. The unknown is a scary prospect to face. Has the hospital given you any idea about when you may have the biopsy results? Hopefully, it won't be too long till you have some news.

We've lots of members here on the forum who will understand some of what you're dealing with right now and hopefully they will post to offer their support soon. In the meantime, I'd really encourage you to give our team of nurses a call. Talking things through with someone really can help and I'm sure they would be happy to offer any advice and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Please keep in touch Marie and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
