Suspected skin cancer

Good evening,

I would like to know whether anyone has experienced something similar.

Last weekend (Saturday) I noticed a mole on my cheek was extremely painful, hot and raised.

That evening my daughter caught her nail on the mole and it bled (ALOT!!)

The pain has subsided but I got the mole checked out by my GP yesterday just be cautious.

The GP took photos and sent which were sent to the dermatologist. Today I received a call from the GP stating the dermatologist was unable to see under the mole from the images sent. I have been referred for an urgent appointment for suspected skin cancer within the next 14 days.

Just wondering anyone had anything similar happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you x

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, MByrne83.

I'm sorry to hear that your about what happened to your daughter and that now, after not being able to see under the mole, the GP referred her to the dermatologist to rule out skin cancer.

Hopefully other forum members who have been in a similar situation will be along shortly to chat with you and offer advice. Until they do, if you feel that it could help to speak with someone medically trained until then please know our lovely team of nurses would be happy to take your call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Once you know more, please come back and give us an update. We're keeping our fingers crossed the dermatologist won't find anything sinister with your daughter's nail.
