2 swollen lymph nodes, back of neck and behind ear

so i about 3 weeks ago i noticed a lump at the very back of my neck right underneath the hairline, it came up right after having the common cold so I didnt think much of it. The week after i was just dealing with congestion and my voice became very weak. Since that i've been completely fine, but I have been coughing up thick yellow mucus which i'm sure is a sign there's some sort of infection. I woke up this morning to find another lump right behind my ear which I can only assume is a lymph node. I have been worried sick with anxiety over the possibility of having the big C because any little pain I instantly assume it's that. so when i start to google, which i know i shouldn't, i panic myself so much. I'll never know what's going on with my body unless I go to my GP but i'm even anxious to do that. I'm so so anxious. I go to college so the anxiety is starting to interrupt my college work now too, i'm 17 if it matters at all.

  • Welcome to the forum L.0ui although I'm very sorry for the anxiety this is causing.

I know it can be scary to go to the doctors but they are the only ones who will be able to investigate and let you know if these lumps are any cause for concern. Hopefully they won't be but they will be able to answer your questions and put your mind at ease so do go and see whem you can.

I hope these tips on talking to your doctor will make you feel less anxious about booking an appointment but hopefully receiving some support and advice from our members will help as well.

I also hope the advice given for managing anxiety on the NHS Every Mind Matters website will stop this from interfering with your studies.

    All the best,
