Ultrasound & Biopsies... Waiting...

Hi, I am new to the forum... Not usually a forum sort of a woman but need some reassurance!

I saw my GP for post menopausal bleeding. (I am 47 years old and haven't had a period for 20 months). No other symptoms, it was a very light bleed over 5 days. She did an exam, couldn't see my cervix clearly (due to the angle). She did a swab and smear. I bled during smear. Swab has already come back negative but still waiting on smear.

I got referred to the hospital (I was seen in one week) for a transvaginal ultrasound and they took two biopsies after that. The consultant didn't explain much. I asked directly if any abnormalities were seen, his words were 'it looks fairly normal'. I have no idea how long the biopsies will take to come back nor if the smear test will be expedited!

For those that are due to have biopsies : Yes, they do hurt (I took 4 ibuprofen and still swore all the way through). You feel OK afterwards though!

My questions if anyone can help me!

1. Is it normal for biopsies to follow a 'fairly normal' ultrasound?

2. How long do you have wait for biopsy results?

Hoping someone can share their experiences x
