Lumps on jaw and other symptoms

Hello,

This may be a bit of a lengthy read so I do apologise in advance. I'm currently looking for advice, support and individuals going through similar to me. I never thought I'd find myself doing this but here I am.

I'm a 29 year old female, smoker for 10 years and classed as overweight.

6-8 months ago I noticed a small pea sized lump just under my right jawline. I didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to around 3 weeks ago the whole right side of my chin has gone completely numb. Sometimes my lower lip is numb too but this comes and goes. Along with this I've had such chronic fatigue for the past month or so to the point it doesn't matter how much rest and sleep I get it feels like I haven't slept or rested in years. This seems to be getting worse and now I'm at the point where I have had to take days off of work (I work in the care sector).

Other symptoms I'm experiencing is nausea a lot of the time, unintentional weight loss around 1stone 2lbs since the start of September, loss of appetite although I am eating and very itchy skin mainly my legs. Yesterday I also found another lump just above the original lump which is much bigger than the other. Both lumps move when pressed and are painless.

I contacted my GP surgery and they gave me a face to face appointment for 15th November. However, the nausea, fatigue and constant weight loss has got to the point where I had to call my surgery to try and get an earlier appointment. Thankfully I was scheduled with a phone consultation with my named GP in the afternoon of Friday 5th November. He wanted an urgent full blood count which I've had today. My results will be back tomorrow ready for my face to face appointment with my GP Wednesday morning.

I'm really concerned and don't know what to do or think and just continually worry. A simple Google search a week ago just threw everything terrible at me and really wish I hadn't searched now.

Can anyone give any advice please or support?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Sunshine and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I was just reading your post and noticed that you have your face to face appointment with the GP today so I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we're thinking of you.

I hope the GP is able to give you good news but whatever the outcome, I want you to know we're here for you and understand how worrying this time must be.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon but if you want to speak with one of our nurses after your appointment then you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and will do all they can to help.

    Kind regards,
