Worried about bloating, pain and blood results

Hi all I'm hoping for some advice and to put my mind at rest a bit. Up until last year I was a size 8 and over the past 8 months I have put weight on all over and gone to a 12/14, the last 3 months I have had lots of bloating, pain right from bottom of stomach up to under breasts, and around my sides. Sometimes its a sickly ache, other times its stabbing pains. Going toilet regularly and although its slightly loose its fine. Going for wee a little more than usual but no pain. Periods still normal and no extra pain. But the bloating and stabbing pains have worried me along with uncomfortable feeling after eating. In my head I feel its gassy and diet issues. But I thought I would speak to doctor as my mom had very similar symptoms and was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer ( i have had genetics test and it was negative) doctor didn't seem concerned but suggested blood tests and poo and wee samples. A few days he rang and said both samples were normal but blood tests showed elevated ca125 (i never asked for numbers as I was in shock) he suggested a emergency scan and said it pointed to my ovaries!!! I'm now in complete panic mood, my mom struggled desperately for 3 years and her passing was horrendous and really scarred me. My children have been through so much losing their nan and then grandad to a stroke I just can't imagine how I would break the news to them and how I would come. I had a lad with autism and a 13 year old girl. Do you think it could me something other than cancer?

  • Sorry to read that you are getting problems with pain and bloating, l had similar problems, my complex ovarian cysts were found during a colonoscopy, l had them removed in October with loads of adhesions taking 4  hours, more surgery extensive than l was expecting. My surgeon is ringing on Wednesday with the biopsy results.  If you would like to know your CA125 levels you could ring your surgery they can look it up for you or get the doctor or nurse to ring you.

I hope you can have your problems sorted soon

  • I don't have much pain just a uncomfortable tightness and a feeling like I've pulled muscles a bit like what you get after a bad cough. But I also have a stabbing pain low on my right side maining when I bend down or lean forward. I've noticed that below my rib cage on either side also feels tender. No sickly feeling but lots of belly noises. I've been peeing more than usual but not a massive amount and no pain when I go, but the stabbing pain is worse when I haven't been for a while

  • Really sorry you've been having a tough time I hope you get some good news soon. Its the worrying thats sending me insane. I have heard ca125 numbers can go up depending on cycle or for other illnesses such as endometriosis, cysts, ibs etc. I've stupidly Google the symptoms for these and don't feel its what I have as there's no heavy periods, unusual bleeds so thats a big concern but I know everyone is different. I will ring docs on Friday and check if my referral has been done and see if they will share numbers with me although I'm unsure that I want to know as I will probably just worry even more if they are particularly high.

Fingers crossed for good news for you on Wednesday. I think the waiting for results is the worst x
