A little concerned

I found a tiny lump in my breast on Thursday and saw the Dr on Friday who has referred me to our local Breast unit! It is very tiny but new to me. When the Dr examined me she said she could also feel some lymph nodes under each armpit.
the lump is only the size of a grain of corn and the dr said not to worry but Incant help it. Does this sound normal

jn these circumstances?

  • Hello Positive8829,

Lumps can occur for all sorts of reasons, but it's good that you went to your doctor. It's quite normal to be referred to a clinic for further investigation, so please try not to worry. You can read more about referrals here and I hope your upcoming appointent goes ok.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Moderator Anastasia

Thank you for responding. It was just a little worrying when you get referred but thank you for easing my mind that this is normal.

I'm sure it will be fine!

    thank you again

don't worry... a lot of GPs have to refer you to a breast clinic if you are concerned about a lump. My GP told me she was positive there was nothing outward but had to send me for a referral anyway. I've just been back regarding a lump and lymphodes I could feel in my armpit and been given the all clear so don't stress. My appt took around an hour. Breast consultant just checked my breasts and lump and lymphodes in question the same as my GP had checked, said they had no concerns and just did an ultra sound to confirm (ultrasound took 10 minutes)
